Quick Look: Nextbook Premium9 Tablet A low cost Android tablet with fairly large 9 inch display

We've been playing with the Nextbook Premium 9 tablet for a few days and wanted to give you our first impressions.

It has a 9 inch Capacitive TFT screen that supports multitouch operation, a 1280x800 display and a front facing camera (2MP best suited for video calling but there as a camera if you need it).

Comes with 4 GB memory, expandable to 32 GB via microSD ram. Has a G sensor so you can rotate to what ever view you prefer. Built in in speakers, WiFi and USB. OS is android 2.3.

First impressions are favorable. It's light, fast enough for browsing, email, watching Netflix, playing music and of course playing games (yes even Plants vs Zombies works).

The eReader works pretty well, and it came with a couple dozen preloaded books. You can add more via the Kobe eBook store app.

I accessed both the Android market and Amazon App market and downloaded some apps, including ones I have used on my Iconia A500. Most performed fine as long as they didn't require later versions of the OS. This 2.3 Honeycomb seems to be fairly standardized, but it has probably been tweaked a bit - more on that next time. (Also will it upgrade to 4.0 is a burning question around here!)

So first impressions are pretty positive, especially when you consider the price. I have already seen it well below the MSP of $350, I expect it to be in the $250-$260 range pretty soon - a nice price for a 9 inch tablet!

We'll circle back once we've used it for a while...
